Ultra Low Loss microwave cables

The widest range Ultra Low Loss cables, DC – 65 GHz., high power, special designs for field, shipboard and high dynamic use, extensive range of connectors available, also for use in high vacuum high power applications.

Please choose one of the following product categories:

High Performance (minimum attenuation and VSWR) ultra low loss coaxial cables type UFP.

The High Performance coaxial cables have been developed for applications where the demand is a minimum attenuation and VSWR. The High Performance cables have a solid inner conductor making them less appropriate for applications where a long flex-life is required. The High Performance cables are available for frequencies from DC up to 65 GHz.

Cable type     Max. frequency        Diameter     Attenuation at max. F
A 24 UFP 65 GHz. 2,3 mm 5,85 dB/m
A 40 UFP 40 GHz. 3,6 mm 2,10 dB/m
A 50 UFP 26,5 GHz. 5,2 mm 1,30 dB/m
A 81 UFP 18 GHz. 7,9 mm 0,65 dB/m
A 150 UFP 8 GHz. 16,3 mm 0,20 dB/m

High Dynamic (long flex-life) ultra low loss coaxial cables type FP.

For applications with a combined need for low signal losses and a long flex-life, the High Dynamic microwave coaxial range has been developed. This type of microwave cable has a multi-strand inner conductor. The High Dynamic coaxial cable is available for frequencies from DC up to 26,5 GHz.

Cable type     Max. frequency        Diameter     Attenuation at max. F
A 26 DT FP 18 GHz. 3,1 mm 2,9 dB/m
A 52 FP 26,5 GHz. 5,0 mm 1,80 dB/m
A 80 FP 18 GHz. 7,7 mm 1,10 dB/m
A 120 FP 12  GHz. 10,3 mm 0,65 dB/m
A 180 FP 8 GHz. 16,5 mm 0,30 dB/m

Super Dynamic (extreme long flex-life) ultra low loss coaxial cables type TFE.

The Super Dynamic microwave coaxial cables are characterized by an extreme long flex-life. A flex-life of more than 5.000.000 movements is possible. The applicable microwave coaxial cables have been designed with special alloy multi-strand inner conductors and flexible cable jackets. The Super Dynamic coaxial cable is available for frequencies from DC up to 26,5 GHz.

Cable type     Max. frequency        Diameter     Attenuation at max. F
A 26 SDT TFE 18  GHz. 3,1  mm 3,0  dB/m
A 36 TFE 26,5 GHz. 3,6 mm 3,30 dB/m
A 52 TFE 26,5 GHz. 6,1  mm 2,10  dB/m

Field (rough environments) ultra low loss coaxial cables type P.

For applications where microwave cables are used in rough environments, the Field range has been developed. This range of microwave cables has a protective jacket of Kapton®; and polyurethane. All microwave cables in the Field  range are crush resistant, have a long flex-life and can be used outdoors. The Field  range microwave coaxial cables cover frequencies from DC up to 26,5 GHz.

Cable type     Max. frequency        Diameter     Attenuation at max. F
A 60 P 26,5  GHz. 6,6  mm 1,30 dB/m
A 80 P 18  GHz. 9,4  mm 1,5 dB/m
A 90 P 18 GHz. 9,6 mm 0,65 dB/m
A 120 P 12 GHz. 12  mm 0,60 dB/m
A 150 P 8 GHz. 19  mm 0,20 dB/m
A 180 P 8 GHz. 17  mm 0,30 dB/m
A 250 P 5 GHz. 27  mm 0,20 dB/m

Shipboard (navy and commercial vessels) ultra low loss coaxial cables type PPP.

Typically rough environment for microwave cables are vessels, both navy and commercial. For this application Gigalink MCE has developed together with the Royal Dutch Navy the Shipboard range of ultra low loss microwave cables. This type of microwave cable has been designed with a protective multi-layer jacket from Kapton® and polyurethane. The Shipboard range microwave cables are crush resistant, shock proof, have a special signal colour and can be used anywhere onboard. The Shipboard range microwave coaxial cables cover frequencies from DC up to 26,5 GHz.

Cable type     Max. frequency        Diameter     Attenuation at max. F
A 60 PPP 26,5 GHz. 13,2  mm 1,30 dB/m
A 90 PPP 18 GHz. 16,5  mm 0,65 dB/m

Gigalink MCE is supplier of the well-known ALPEN Microwave high performance cable assemblies. For almost 20 years produced by Compagnie Deutsch.

Did you know? »

The Dielectric of Ultra Low Loss cable is made of PTFE Teflon ® with an very high air content.

This type of material is known as expanded PTFE.

The content of the air determines the velocity of propagation. The higher the velocity, the lower the losses of the cable will be.

If you take a piece of PTFE tape with a high content of air and you let it drop, it will act as an feather of a bird.

The production of the dielectric is very delicate and has a great influence on the production speed.
